Caregiver Resources
When someone suffers a stroke, it is a life-changing event for both the stroke survivor and their family. Loved ones take on the new role of caregiver and must navigate the complex reality that faces them. It is important that caregivers are cared for as well. We offer a Caregiver Support Group that meets on a regular basis, and have complied resources that offer support and guidance to caregivers. Our therapists are also great resources for our caregivers - they provide tips for communicating at home, guidance for other services that may benefit clients and caregivers, and provide general support.
Our therapy environment is supportive of everyone impacted by stroke. In addition to the thorough evaluation process where we answer any and all questions a caregiver may have, we host peer-led support groups.
Here at Austin Speech Labs, Marcy Thomas is our Caregiver Liaison. She helps others discover helpful resources, tips, and navigate through their own journeys of taking care of their loved ones.
Marcy’s Corner is where we share her helpful monthly updates to other caregivers! This month, Marcy shares resources about prescription medication discounts, tax benefits for caregivers, Hope Heals Camp, and conversations about emotional well-being. To check out the full list of resources, see our Caregiver Resource List.
