Speech and Cognitive Therapy Boot Camps
All clients at Austin Speech Labs participate in our Speech and Cognitive Therapy Boot Camps, which are part of our designation as an Intensive Comprehensive Aphasia Program (ICAP). These Boot Camps provide stroke survivors with access to high-quality, intensive, and affordable speech therapy. Clients attend therapy sessions based on their needs, with some participating for just an hour a day a few days a week, and others may receive up to 30 hours of therapy per week. Each Boot Camp lasts eight weeks and is offered five times a year.
As an ICAP, we offer individual, group, and computer-based therapy designed to promote meaningful progress in areas such as reading, writing, auditory processing, automatic speech, memory, cognition, conversation, vocabulary, and language. Licensed Speech-Language Pathologists, with the support of volunteers, deliver this care.
If clients are unable to come to our Austin office, they may receive teletherapy over Zoom. All clients receiving teletherapy must be located in Texas.
Between each Boot Camp session, there are breaks for our clients to absorb and practice what they have learned and decide with their caregivers if they want to continue with therapy in the next Boot Camp session. In 2023, we started offering Mini-Camps during the breaks for those who want to continue with therapy. Therapy is not offered outside of the Boot Camps or Mini-Camps. To learn more about how our Boot Camps work, please see our FAQ.
