Volunteer
Volunteers are a vital part of our Austin Speech Labs community - from assisting in 1000s of hours of therapy to helping us fundraise - we could not do what we do without the support of our dedicated volunteers.
Volunteer support is crucial in keeping our costs low for everyone and offering sliding scale fees to individuals with low incomes.
We have two types of volunteers:
Student Volunteers
Individuals in any kind of medical or communication sciences degree program who want experience in a unique healthcare environment. These volunteers gain clinical training and mentorship from our expert therapists by assisting with client therapy and other day-to-day activities of our therapists. Every semester, we have volunteers from universities across Texas, and during the summer semesters, we have volunteers from across the country!
Community Volunteers
Individuals who are interested in helping stroke survivors regain the ability to communicate. These volunteers work with clients under the direction and supervision of our therapists. Interested individuals are also welcome to volunteer in other capacities, such as event planning/assistance, professional expertise consulting or helping around the office!
