2019 World Stroke Day Health Fair
Get ready for the third annual World Stroke Day Health Fair on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 at Austin Speech Labs from 4 to 6 pm! This event included free health screenings, a raffle, live entertainment, and healthy living vendors.
The mission of the World Stroke Day Health Fair is to promote stroke awareness and prevention in the Austin community. Please join us at this special event.
2018 World Stroke Day Health Fair
Medtronic presented the 2nd Annual World Stroke Day Health Fair on October 29, 2018 in recognition of World Stroke Day. Austin Speech Labs hosted the event from 4 pm to 6 pm. The event included free health screenings, door prizes, live entertainment, guest speakers, healthy living vendors and the latest information on stroke prevention and recovery. It was a great event that spread awareness of stroke!

World Stroke Day Health Fair 2017
Austin Speech Labs, St. David's Healthcare, and The University of Texas Dell Medical School hosted a Health Fair on October 29, 2017 in honor of World Stroke Day.
This health fair was free event for community members. stroke survivors, and caregivers. It featured free health screeners and showcase local services that support stroke prevention, awareness, and recovery. We raised awareness of stroke's affect on communication by participating in the #silence challenge.
Steven Warach, M.D,, Ph.D., The University of Texas Dell Medical School, Department of Neurology, Stroke Institute, discussed stroke prevention and current stroke treatments.
Robert Lee, M.D., St. David's Rehabilitation Hospital, spoke of resources in our community for post-stroke rehabilitation.
Stroke survivors are at higher risk for recurrent stroke, and managing health is the best prevention. Lifestyle risk factors include obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Regular health check-ups are important. Read more about stroke prevention here.
